Wednesday, after completing what they described as a very meticulous and thorough investigation, CAL Fire officials say the Camp Fire was triggered in part by electrical transmission lines owned and operated by Pacific Gas and Electricity (PG&E) in the Pulga area of Butte County in the early morning hours of November 8, 2018.

When the fire began at those Pulga power lines, fire driven by strong winds quickly spread through dry grass and brush under "Red Flag" conditions.

A report released Wednesday confirms PG&E transmission lines ignited the devastating fire. This fire was consumed by the original fire which started earlier near Pulga.

The investigative report on the cause of the Camp Fire has been forwarded to Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey.

"All should be mindful of PG&E's history of over two decades of mismanagement, misconduct and failed efforts to improve a woeful safety culture", Newsom's office writes.

The deadly wildfire that all but destroyed several small towns in California past year was caused by PG&E power lines, Cal Fire investigators have concluded.

Paradise Mayor Jody Jones said Wednesday she was not surprised to hear Pacific Gas & Electric power lines sparked the blaze that decimated her town and she hopes the findings help the city's legal case against the utility.

School authorities informed the police as soon as the incident unfolded, and students were immediately evacuated to a safer area. The other suspect is listed in court records as 16-year-old Maya McKinney, The Associated Press reported .

Paradise sued PG&E in January seeking damages for the loss of infrastructure, land, property, trees, public and natural resources, and lost taxpayer resources.

The blaze burned 153,336 acres, destroyed 18,804 structures and resulted in the death of 85 people.

"We remain committed to working together with state agencies and local communities to make our customers and California safer", the statement added.

Cal Fire said the transmission lines owned and operated by the San Francisco-based utility sparked the November 8 fire in the Pulga area that almost destroyed Paradise.

Gov. Gavin Newsom is urging the judge overseeing PG&E's bankruptcy to reject the company's request for a six-month extension to present its reorganization plan.

During the investigation, authorities located a second ignition site near the intersection of Concow and Rim roads.

The news came as PG&E CEO William "Bill" Johnson testified before the state Assembly Utilities and Energy Committee in Sacramento on Wednesday, where he faced questions and comments from elected officials.

PG&E filed for bankruptcy in January 2019, citing potential civil liabilities in excess of $30 billion from the North Bay and Camp Fires.
