Netflix is caught in the "Russian Doll" loop.

Even if you spend a lot of time on Netflix, you may not have got around to watching the Netflix-produced Russian Doll yet: a time-bending drama set in modern Brooklyn which landed on the streaming service earlier this year.

From Natasha Lyonne, Amy Poehler, and Leslye Headland, the series is a surreal, dark comedy about a woman who can not stop reliving her own death.

The new season will have eight episodes.

Season one launched February to widespread acclaim, attracting a 96 per cent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In a conversation with Recode's Kara Swisher, Netflix VP Cindy Holland teasingly asked "Russian Doll" star and co-creator Natasha Lyonne if she'd be interested in a second season. However - and this is a crucial "however" - there is the question of content when it comes to Russian Doll season 2. Her night resets and she's back in the bathroom of her birthday party, given a second, third, fourth, fifth, etc. chance to fix the loop. The more you guys this can be, the better.

"We pitched Netflix three seasons of the most bonkers, heartfelt, passionate, this-is-what-we-truly-feel-like-is-our-story-to-tell idea", she shared. So fear not, Russian Doll fans: the series' second season should satisfy. Concrete details about season 2 are being kept under lock and key, which is good news for those who appreciated the surprise spin on what appeared to be a familiar premise in season 1.
