Authorities say they are investigating whether Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri pushed and hit a sheriff's deputy in the face as he tried to get onto the court after his team won the National Basketball Association title in Oakland.

Sgt. Ray Kelly says Ujiri then allegedly pushed the deputy, who pushed Ujiri back and told him he couldn't go onto the court.

The officer had denied the executive access to the court "because he didn't have the proper credentials" a spokesperson for the sheriff's office told the San Francisco Chronicle after the game. Greg Wiener, a 61-year-old season ticket holder, said Ujiri then shoved the officer back before bystanders intervened.

The Alameda County District Attorney will decide if charges are to be brought against Ujiri.

Ujiri eventually made his way onto the court for the celebration, but Kelly says police plan to file a complaint with local prosecutors.

NBC Bay Area posted video of the aftermath of the incident late Thursday night, but it does not show what happened first.

Ujiri, 48, is also in the hard position of needing to navigate this Wizards courtship as his franchise prepares to make its closing case to free agent Kawhi Leonard about staying with the Raptors on a long-term deal.

Criminalizing a Black man seems to be Police 101, and cops seemed to follow the script to a tee following the report that Ujiri was the victim.

Masai Ujiri has been accused of shoving and striking an Alameda County sheriff's deputy during an altercation at Oracle Arena after Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

Interestingly, Ujiri is credited for building the Nuggets into a contender as Denver's GM before departing for the Raptors in 2013. "No doubt they laid hands first, and I bet it was because they could never fathom a black man was the president of a team", wrote one responder.
