So far six have been arrested, while the search continues for a seventh suspect.

Ortiz was at the Dial Bar and Lounge in Santo Domingo on Sunday night when a gunman approached from behind and shot him at close range in the torso, authorities said.

Ferreyra Cruz is also believed to be the same man wanted in a pair of armed street robberies on December 22 in Clifton, New Jersey, a detective lieutenant, Robert Bracken, with the city's police department told The Star-Ledger newspaper of Newark, New Jersey.

Ortiz was shot in the back at a bar in the Dominican Republic on Sunday.

Prosecutors in New Jersey said that a bench warrant on armed robbery and gun charges has been issued for the man who authorities in the Dominican Republic say pulled the trigger.
