The celebration was cut short for a member of the World Cup champion United States women's soccer team after she discovered someone had burglarized her hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Los Angeles. "Do you make copies [Mayor de Blasio]?"

According to USA Today, "LAPD public information lieutenant Chris Ramirez said the department's detectives are interviewing witnesses and investigating surveillance video from Wednesday night, when Long and her husband, Jose Batista, left the door to their room "ajar" for about an hour - between 9 and 10 p.m. - while celebrating with fellow USWNT players".

The team defeated the Netherlands last weekend to win the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup, America's fourth win.

Lampard's Chelsea reign begins with draw
Frank Lampard's Chelsea reign got underway in Dalymount Park on Wednesday night. Unfortunately Pedro never had the chance to play with Lampard on the pitch.

We're told Allie's wedding ring - worth about $15k - along with the key to NYC awarded to her Wednesday for winning the World Cup were taken in the theft.

Long will be receiving a replacement key, de Blasio replied to her tweet on Friday morning. Earlier that day, they had each been presented with keys to New York City during the ticker-tape parade down the "Canyon of Heroes". Like any good New Yorker, we keep a spare for our neighbors!

Los Angles police officials confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that Long's room was entered between 9pm and 10pm but, at the time of writing, no arrests have been made. "We got you covered", the mayor's response read. Teammate Alex Morgan, who tweeted at Long in support, won "Female Athlete of the Year".
