Amber Rudd U-turns on opposition to no-deal Brexit

With the contest to elect the next Conservative leader Telegraph readers share their thoughts on the policy pledges made by both candidates Former UK PM Major vows legal action to block suspension of parliament

Former Conservative leader Sir John said it would be "utterly and totally unacceptable" for any British premier to shut down parliament, and he would seek a judicial review if it happened.

May, who is now serving as caretaker Prime Minister during the course of a leadership contest between United Kingdom foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt and former foreign secretary Boris Johnson, was forced to announce her resignation amid mounting rebellion within her own Cabinet over Brexit at the end of May.

Jeremy Hunt has already threatened to cancel all civil servants' August annual leave in order to prepare for a no-deal Brexit, if he becomes prime minister.

A former British prime minister threatened Wednesday to take Conservative Party leadership candidate Boris Johnson to court if he tries to suspend Parliament to deliver a United Kingdom departure from the European Union without a deal. A legal challenge offers a potential new route. "We will get a deal by October 31", he vowed. I think the public have got a very simple view.

At a leadership hustings in Cheltenham yesterday, Mr Hunt also said he may pay a "political price" for saying he may not be able to deliver Brexit by Christmas.

The President argued the unregulated nature of the cryptocurrency market could enable illegal activities such as drug trade. He singled out Facebook's upcoming Libra virtual currency, which he says, " will have little standing or dependability ".

"You can not and should not bypass Parliament in this fashion", Major said.

Greg Clark the business secretary has warned the next prime minister that a no-deal Brexit will lead to the loss of "many thousands" of jobs. He said that while the chance of the United Kingdom leaving the European Union without an agreement "is not negligible", he still sees a negotiated exit as the "most likely outcome". Parliament won. King Charles I was tried and executed.

The intervention came after Boris Johnson refused to rule out a so-called prorogation of parliament - a move that Major warned would thrust Queen Elizabeth II into the center of a constitutional crisis.

But Ms Rudd has now said she backs the argument put forward by Mr Johnson, and rival Jeremy Hunt, that the United Kingdom must leave on 31 October, on whatever terms necessary.

"They can't be concerned for the sovereignty of Parliament except when it is inconvenient to Mr. Johnson".
