A friend of the OH man who killed nine people, including his own sister, in Dayton this month was charged on Monday with lying about his illegal drug use on a form when he bought a gun, federal prosecutors said.

File-This undated file photo provided by the Dayton Police Department shows Connor Betts.

Police have said that there was nothing in Betts' background that would have prevented him from buying the AR-15 style gun used in the shooting.

U.S. Attorney Benjamin Glassman stressed there is no allegation that Kollie intentionally participated in planning of the shooting. "We have no evidence of that".

According to Glassman, Kollie was interviewed by authorities on August 4.

He is further accused of illegally possessing those weapons as well as purchasing firearm components and body armor for Betts. "When asked how often he used drugs in the past year and a half, Kollie said he smokes marijuana every day and has done so since he was 14".

Kollie agreed to allow agents to search his home, and while inside, they say they smelled marijuana and observed in plain sight a bong and the Drago pistol.

Betts also allegedly made a "rape list" of female classmates he wanted to sexually assault as well as a "hit list" that was later found in a school bathroom.

During that interview, Kollie allegedly told agents that he likes guns and now owns a handgun and a micro Draco pistol.

Todd Wickerham of the Federal Bureau of Investigation tells reporters Monday that it does not appear Kollie knew how Betts would use that equipment.

The affidavit says that Kollie also told agents he uses psychedelic mushrooms, which he grows in his residence, and "micro-doses" on a constant basis, stating it gives him energy and is "fun". Onlookers in Dayton mourn the nine people who died when a gunman opened fire in a crowd outside a popular bar in the city's Oregon District earlier this month.

Just after 1 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, Connor Betts approached a packed crowd in front of Ned Peppers bar and unloaded about 40 rounds in just 32 seconds.

Kollie faces 15 years in prison if convicted.
