Ed Davey: Jeremy Corbyn "Won't Command A Majority" In The Commons

In the letter, Corbyn says that MPs should support a vote of no confidence in Boris Johnson, and then vote confidence in a temporary Labour government with the sole goal of stopping a no-deal Brexit.

He says Parliament should then unite behind a Corbyn-led "temporary government" that would seek a delay to Brexit and call a national election.

Mr. Corbyn - the only person who can trigger a vote of no confidence in Prime Minister Johnson's government - will do so after MPs return to Parliament on September 3, if he feels sure of victory.

Prime Minister Johnson has promised to take Britain out of the European Union by October 31, with or without a deal, setting the scene for a showdown in parliament where lawmakers are opposed to a divorce without a transition agreement.

"Our leader is Jeremy Corbyn, and she should respect the leader of the Labour Party and his title as the official opposition", the Shadow Education Secretary said.

Jeremy Corbyn's supporters turned their guns on Jo Swinson last night after she refused to endorse him as a caretaker prime minister.

"It would be a calamitous failure, not merely of current British politicians, but of the British political system more broadly, if that majority found itself unable to prevent a foreseeable and avoidable national catastrophe", said Donnelly.

Ms Swinson is coming under increasing pressure to back Mr Corbyn's suggestion, which includes forcing out Boris Johnson in a vote of no confidence and securing an extension to the Brexit deadline beyond October 31.

He was then given a 45-day extension following the 2019 ICC World Cup keeping in mind the ongoing West Indies tour. As a player, Shastri represented India in 80 Tests and 150 ODIs and performed well as an all-rounder.

But the rebels noted they had not agreed Corbyn should be the caretaker leader of the country in the event their moves end up ousting Johnson.

If the government loses a no-confidence motion, the prime minister - or anyone else - has 14 days in which to form a government backed by a majority of MPs. According to Corbyn, this can only be detrimental to jobs, rules, food standards and workers' rights in the United Kingdom.

But the SNP's Ian Blackford welcomed the Labour leader's letter and Plaid Cymru's Liz Saville Roberts also offered her cautious support.

He urged the UK's "European friends to compromise", but said their position is likely to harden the more they believe Westminster can block Brexit.

But she doesn't think the Labour leader will command a majority in the House of Commons.

He also addressed anti-Brexit Conservative MPs such as Dominic Grieve, Oliver Letwin, Nick Boles and Caroline Spelman.

Speaking during a Facebook event hosted at Downing Street, Johnson said, "There's a awful kind of collaboration as it were, going on between people who think they can block Brexit in Parliament and our European friends".

He said Labour would then campaign in the election for a second referendum on the Brexit terms, including an option as to whether Britain should remain after all.
