Sleep tracking is one of the features that was rumored for this year, but that will have to wait for the Series 6 or beyond.

This new always-on retina display is powered by what Apple claims is the industry's only low-temperature polysilicone and oxide display (LTPO), an ultra-low power display driver, an efficient power management integrated circuit, and a new ambient light sensor. This means no more raising your wrist to activate the backlight. Many users report that they get longer than the estimated 18-hour battery life, but that's wholly dependent on how often you use Global Positioning System, and other power-guzzling apps and features.

Apple said the Series 5 still has 18-hour battery life with the screen continuously on. So, you can see the time without lifting your wrist. However, in idle mode, with your hand lowered or unmoving, the screen dims and switches to lower cycles, while still remaining visible.

The only other new physical addition is the option to get a Series 5 with a titanium chassis. The new titanium Watches start at $799 and that covetable white ceramic version starts at $1,299.

The Apple Watch Series 4 will also receive watchOS 6 on the same date, but no indication was given that the range's pricing would decrease.

The first is a built-in compass.

Building further on the emergency calling feature which debuted on the Apple Watch Series 4 past year, Apple is adding global emergency calling to the Series 5 but it is limited to the cellular variant only. The compass functions are also available as complications that can be added to the watch faces.

The Maps app has also been updated to show you which way you're facing. This allows the newer models to not only track your moves more precisely, but to also detect if you fall or slip on the ground and call for help if necessary.

International Emergency calling support that works regardless of where the device was originally purchased or if the cellular plan has been activated.

Apple also revealed details of a number of new health research studies that will use Watch in the areas of hearing, women's health and heart health.

In the U.S., the Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS) starts at $399 (roughly Rs. 28,700) and Apple Watch Series 5 (GPS + Cellular) starts at $499 (roughly Rs. 38,900).
