Police said two people were shot during a wedding ceremony at a New Hampshire church on Saturday before attendees subdued the gunman.

The police chief also noted that more than one person was shot but did not give any other details beyond that.

Lowell General Hospital has received one patient from the incident, hospital spokesperson Angela Strunk tells CNN.

The accused shooter, an unidentified man who fired a handgun, was in custody, police said.

This is a developing story, originally published by New Hampshire Public Radio, with additional reporting from WBUR. Shooter confirmed in custody.

New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu said in a post on Twitter that state officials were at the scene and that the state would "provide all necessary resources to support the community and our local partners".

Law enforcement officers have responded to "an active police situation" at the New England Pentecostal Church in Pelham, New Hampshire.

Update 12:21pm: Reports are of zero fatalities.

Garcia was found shot to death inside a Londonderry, New Hampshire, home on October 1. Brandon Castiglione, 24, has been arrested in relation to the crime.

Churchgoer Janail Archer said his father, Othniel Archer, 59, a deacon there during the shooting, told him that among two shot, was the church leader, Bishop Stanley Choate and a woman. "Today was supposed to serve as a celebration of the life of Minister Luis Garcia".

A memorial service scheduled for Saturday afternoon at the church was canceled after the shooting, attendee Geraldo Pagan said.
